Our products – We work with premium and environmentally friendly products made in Australia and the US by well-known and respected brands. The products we use have been carefully chosen so they will not damage your fabric and will aid the longevity of your furniture.

Our process – You can expect us to inspect and test the fibre composition of your furniture rung and carpet and the condition of soiling/stains before a customised plan is discussed with you. We take pride in being fully transparent about what we can achieve – that includes being upfront with you if we believe we can’t fully remove soiling or a stain.

We care about our customers’ health and their home environment. We only use products that are safe around kids and pets, and we offer a range of products that are green and biodegradable. We also take utmost care of your furnishings and floors by wearing shoe covers, using leak-proof drop sheets, and placing plastic and foam tabs under furniture when cleaning carpets.

In most cases, stain removal is more successful if you haven’t tried to remove it with a store-bought product first. The use of spotters may drive a stain deeper into the fabric and make it difficult to remove. Or they can remove the solution the stain is carried in and cause the stain to set into the fibre.

The short answer is ‘no’. Bicarb soda is an alkaline chemical than can cause permanent damage, such as chemical burn and bleaching to wool and natural fibres, as well as setting the stains in. It can also react with the professional products used by technicians and cause lasting damage.

Our technicians are qualified in upholstery, carpet and leather care and cleaning methods used in accordance with Australian, WoolSafe and IICRC standards.

Before our technicians start a job, they perform a fibre identification test to understand its cleaning characteristics. During the inspection walk-through with you they will look to understand the type of soiling and stain they need to work on. They then devise a customised cleaning approach and advise you on what can be achieved. We will sometimes push the boundaries to achieve a comprehensive clean, but only after full consultation with you and once we have your consent.

We use family and pet-friendly cleaning solutions for cleaning purposes and specialised products to remove stains.

We ensure our furnishings are cleaned in accordance with Australian, IICRC and WoolSafe standards. That means we only use products deemed to be appropriate and we thoroughly flush the products we use to ensure the safety of your family and furnishings.

HEPA stands for High-efficiency Particulate Air. Vacuum cleaners containing HEPA filters are particularly effective at removing dirt, pollen, dust mites and other contaminants from surfaces by trapping particles as they pass through a very fine filter. HEPA filters remove at least 99.7 per cent of airborne particles 0.3 micrometres in diameter.

Most dirt marks can be removed during our cleaning process, but some require a little more elbow grease and stronger cleaning solutions. No matter what we use, the same cleaning process applies.

Stains, on the other hand, may require specialised products and techniques (such as the use of heat transfer or a UV light), as well as extra time and effort, to remove. Think about it like nail polish. Hand washing removes the dirt off hands, but not the nail polish. Removing nail polish requires a completely different product and cleaning technique.

In the same sense, advanced stain removal requires an understanding of the fibres being cleaned and the type of stain to be removed.

All our products are for professional use only. They are sourced from reputable Australian and US manufacturers. Even if you can get hold of them online, we would NOT recommend a DIY project. Using the wrong product on the wrong fibre or wrong soil or stain type and at the wrong dilution level may cause irreversible damage to your furniture or carpet.

This might surprise you but most, if not all, store-bought upholstery and carpet cleaning solutions cause more problems than they fix. This is simply because one size does not fit all. Unless you can match the right cleaning product with the right fibre and right stain at the right dilution ratio and apply the correct process, we recommend you call in the experts. (Hint: that’s us.)

In the same way you shouldn’t use store-bought upholstery and carpet cleaning solutions (see above), you should save yourself the disappointment of trying to remove and deodorise pet urine stains and odours. Why? Because they won’t break down the proteins in urine. Secondly, they will only treat the surface. Even after you think you have treated the pet urine stain, you will still have urine under your carpet yarns and soaked into the carpet backing and padding (and most likely in the wood/concrete under all that, too).

We recommended you clean all your furnishings once a year on average. However, the exact amount of time you leave between cleans will depend on your environment. You may need to perform a clean every 4–6 months, or you may get away with doing it once every two years.

A family with several kids and pets living next to the beach, airport, port or major construction project, for example, may need to have their home furniture and carpet cleaned more frequently than that belonging to a professional couple living in a high-rise apartment.

How long your upholstery or carpet stays protected will depend largely on the type of protection used and how frequently your furniture is used (or walked on, in the case of carpets). Be sure to ask one of our technicians how long your protection will last when we visit your premises.

Depending on the level of soiling and type of treatment used, mattresses can take from 4–8 hours to dry. The drying process can, however, be accelerated by using a ceiling or pedestal fan and air-conditioning.

We accept cash, bank transfer, PayID, Visa and Mastercard. Note that our personnel have no access to your credit card details as credit card payments are processed either through Stripe or Square. A credit card fee applies.

You’ve just booked a service with Tuft & Weave. What next? Well, there are a few small, simple things you can do to get your home ready for the technician. Not only will it make it easier on the day, it also guarantees the deepest possible clean and best results.

1. Parking and accessibility

The technician will need to park as close to your front door as possible so it’s easier for them to use their equipment. They might not be able to provide the service if they don’t have a parking spot or have to park down the block.

  • Parking – Clear the driveway, reserve a spot in front of the property or book a visitor parking spot with strata if required.
  • Accessibility – Whether in the driveway or inside the home, your technician will need ample space to manoeuvre and bring in equipment, hoses and tools. Leave enough space in the driveway and keep the pathways in your home clear of small items….

2. Prepare the area in advance

Technicians will be on a tight schedule. Please prepare the area before they arrive. The technician will advise of any additional charges if they are not able to start the job straight away and become delayed because the area is not prepared.

3. Move small and fragile items

  • If you have heirlooms, a collection, particularly wobbly lamps, or anything special or breakable on display, don’t take the chance on it being accidentally knocked over during the service.
  • Please advise your technician of any loose legs on furniture or potentially fragile items that cannot be moved.

4. Keep kids and pets away

Kids – Your kids’ safety is very important to us. Please keep a very close eye on them during the cleaning process, there will be equipment, hot hoses, tools and chemicals around.

Pets – You may have the most docile pet, but cleaning equipment or the activity itself can make your animal uptight, which can make the cleaning process difficult.

5. Pinpoint focus areas

While you wait for your technician to arrive:

  • Make a list of the problem areas such as stains and spots.
  • Try to remember what caused them and relay this information to your technician.
  • The origin, age and previous treatments of a discoloration affects the way the stain will be treated and the outcome.

6. Air Conditioning

The hotter the room is the quicker the cleaning solution will dry before it gets to emulsify the soil.

  • If air conditioning is available, we highly encourage you put it on at least 30 minutes before your technician arrives.
  • If air conditioning is not available, we encourage you to use any pedestal or ceiling fans if available.

1. Preparing the room

Before your technician arrives:

  • Clear the upholstery by removing all toys, clothes, electronics, and decorative items.
  • Clear the floor and the space around the work area by relocating small furniture such as coffee and side tables, chairs, pot plants or other light pieces that are easy to move.
  • Provide a clear path from the front of the house to the work area.
  • Put the air conditioner on, if available, at least 30 minutes before your technician arrives.
  • If not, please put the fans on and open the windows, at least 30 minutes before your technician arrives

2. Plan for post-cleaning dry time

  • Dry time for Hot Water Extraction (Upholstery Steam Cleaning) is around 8 to 10 hours depending on the temperature, relative humidity, and airflow.
  • Dry time for Very Low Moisture cleaning (Upholstery Dry Cleaning, Encapsulation Cleaning, Bonnet Cleaning) is around 4 to 6 hours.

Directly after cleaning:

  • Provide ventilation to expedite drying times by use of pedestal or ceiling fans.
  • During Low Humidity – Open windows during periods of low humidity on nice sunny days
  • During High Humidity – Use the air conditioning system on very hot days when humidity is high.
  • A dehumidifier can be useful too if you have one.

1. Preparing the rug

Before your technician arrives:

  • Clear the rug to be cleaned by removing all small items such as toys and shoes.
  • Relocate small furniture such as side tables, chairs, ottomans, pot plants or other light pieces that are easy to move.
  • Remove heavy furniture such as dining tables, sofas, beds and cabinets. Your technician is prepared to clean around your furniture, but your rug will be that much cleaner if your technician has access to the whole rug.
  • Allow 50cm of clear workspace around each side of the rug.
  • If the rug is deemed suitable for on-site cleaning, the cleaning process, whether Hot Water Extraction (Rug Steam Cleaning) or Very Low Moisture Cleaning (Rug Dry Cleaning, Encapsulation Cleaning or Bonnet Cleaning), will need to take place on hard surfaces and not a carpeted surface.

We won’t move any electronics, china cabinets, sofas, beds, entertainment units, tables, pianos, antique and fragile furniture.

If you are intending to get a friend to help you move furniture while the technician is carrying out work. Please advise us in advance, as this will slow down the delivery of the service and additional costs needs to be factored in.

2. Plan for post-cleaning dry time

Depending on the temperature, relative humidity, and airflow

  • Dry time for Hot Water Extraction Cleaning (Rug Steam Cleaning) is around 8 to 10 hours.
  • Dry time for Very Low Moisture Cleaning (Rug Dry Cleaning, Encapsulation Cleaning, Bonnet Cleaning) is around 4 to 6 hours.
  • Dry time for Dry Compound Cleaning is immediate.

Directly after cleaning:

  • Please keep furniture blocks and leg protectors in place for 24hrs.
  • Furniture items removed from the rug prior to cleaning should remain off the rug for 24 hours.
  • Provide ventilation to expedite drying times by use of pedestal or ceiling fans.
  • During Low humidity days – Open windows during periods of low humidity on nice sunny days.
  • During High humidity days – Use the air conditioning system on very hot days when humidity is high.
  • A dehumidifier can be useful too if you have one.

3. Slip Hazard

  • Use extreme caution when walking from the damp rug to any hard surface area, especially if you are wearing shoe covers.
  • We highly recommend that you put a dry towel or floor mat down between the rug and hard surface areas.

 

 

Your technician will pre-inspect the rug with you and document the findings before taking the rug away to be cleaned at the rug wash facility.

A second thorough inspection will take place at the rug wash by the head rug technician.

1. Preparing the rug for pick up

Before your technician arrives:

  • Prepare the rug for a pre-inspection by clearing all furniture and small items off the rug.
  • Your technician will discuss his findings with you, roll the rug and take it away.

2. Delivering the rug

  • Once the rug is washed, dried, and protected (if this option is selected), your rug will be rolled, tagged, and delivered back to you.
  • Before your technician arrives, prepare the area where the rug needs to go by clearing all heavy furniture and small items.
  • Upon delivery, your technician will:
    • Install the new rug pad, if this service option is selected.
    • Unroll the rug.
    • Post-inspect the rug with you and discuss any areas of concern.

Directly after cleaning:

  • During Low Humidity – Open windows during periods of low humidity on nice sunny days
  • During High Humidity – Use the air conditioning system on very hot days when humidity is high.
  • A dehumidifier can be useful too, if you have one.

1. Preparing the rooms

Before your technician arrives:

  • Hang up any full-length curtains or skirts on upholstered furniture or beds that may be touching the carpet.
  • Relocate small furniture such as side tables, chairs, ottomans, pot plants or other light pieces that are easy to move.

Your technician is prepared to clean around your furniture, but your carpet will be that much cleaner if you relocate all movable items.

We won’t move any electronics, china cabinets, sofas, beds, entertainment units, tables, pianos, antique and fragile furniture.

2. Which room we start from

  • We will normally start with the furthest room in the house. Then we will work our way back out of the house.
  • All the rooms need to be ready for the service at the same time, as the technician will perform each step of the cleaning process to all the rooms at the same time.

  • Dry time for Hot Water Extraction Cleaning (Carpet Steam Cleaning) is around 8 to 10 hours.
